Eureka College Students Receive Intercollegiate Broadcasting Awards

Students Kenneth Miles, Joshua Howard, and Kareem Burnett received honors at the IBS (Intercollegiate Broadcasting System) conference in New York City on February 25th. The student group led by Dr.John Malone received top honors for Best Show Open for their all-new Friday night program “Late Shift”, while Spencer Davis and Howard were finalists in the Best Sports Play by Play category. LCTV, now ECTV, was nominated for the first time as Best College/University Television Station.

Originally Lincoln College students, the group transferred to Eureka after Lincoln’s closure in the spring of 2022. “It was a hard and difficult process, as we had to move the entire program including equipment.” Kenneth Miles said, “we had to have it all ready almost before the start of the semester.” Student Kareem Burnett echoes this challenge, “It was hard but ultimately worth it.”

The group says they’re looking forward to expanding the program, achieving more awards, and establishing themselves on campus. “We want to be the household name like we were at Lincoln” Kenneth says.

ECTV can be streamed live.
