Different Approaches to March Madness Brackets

March is just around the corner so get ready to fill out your bracket. While some Eureka College students already know who their top pick is, others are still figuring out a strategy to fill their bracket.

Spencer Davis said he thinks his top pick is going to be UCLA though “they will probably go out the first round” as he has a strategy but it never works for him. “Personally cause I’m an Indiana guy so I’m going with IU (Indiana University)…” said Drew Payne. When asked about a strategy Drew gave the idea of doing some research to see what teams have NBA draft players on their teams as one would assume a team with more players going pro would have better odds of succeeding.

Some others are just going with their favorites and gut feelings. “I’m going with my gut, which is Houston…” said Andrew Schulte. David Hidden said he has no strategy but said Villanova is filling in his number 1 spot, “…because Philly has had so much pain in the past so Villanova is going to break that (this year).”

If you have no idea how to pick or have never participated in the filling out of a March Madness bracket don’t worry there are others in the same boat. When asked about March Madness and filling out a bracket Liam Luken simply states “Dude I don’t even know the teams.”  Madalyn Schmitt gave her advice on how she has gone about filling out a bracket by saying “in the past years I have just copied my dads”. Another classic strategy for those who don’t know seems to be basing their choices on the colors, mascot, names of the teams, or just picking what schools sound better.
