Eureka Softball Splits Knox in First Home Game
Eureka Softball took on Knox Wednesday March 29th in a home-opening double header at Sweitzer field. The team split Knox, losing 8-6 in the first game with 7 hits and 5 errors while giving up multiple runs in the 5th and 7th innings. Eureka bounced back in the second game, committing 0 errors with 10 hits and winning 3-0 with a shutout by Outfielder Kloey Wheeler in her first career appearance as a pitcher.
Junior Second baseman Tressa Grisham led the team offensively along with Lexi Liptack and Christine Mepham, all going 2-2 in Eureka’s second win of the season. “I had full confidence in myself and proceeded to execute that at the plate”, Tressa said. Mepham doubled for the first time this season, joining Delaney Douglas and Lexi Liptack who also gapped the outfield for a double in game one.
The 2-11 Red Devils play next Monday, April 3rd, at Sweitzer field to face Illinois College in a double header.
