Eureka Chamber Singers Perform at Local Retirement Home

The Eureka Chamber Singers performed at the Apostolic Christian Restmor Nursing Home last Monday in Morton. The nine member group of four voice parts sung a variety of ensemble and solo pieces, some with instrumental accompaniment. The variety in structure and genre created by Director of Choral Activities and Assistant Professor of Music Sarah Riskind was well received by Apostolic Christian Restmor Nursing Home residents. Those who could not attend the performance in person could listen from their rooms via live broadcasting. “It’s possible that we reached many more than the 20-30 folks in the room,” Dr. Riskind said.

Baylor Cluver, one of chamber singers soprano voices, enjoyed performing both ensemble and solo pieces for a captive and energetic audience. “I really enjoyed giving back to the community and seeing how excited the residents were to hear us,” Baylor said, “It was rewarding to sing for people who don’t usually get the chance to hear live music.” The same goes for alto singer Janessa Cornell. “It was rewarding to see how happy they were to hear us,” Eureka College music will be returning to the Apostolic Christian Restmor Nursing Home later this march with the instrumental ensemble.

Chamber Singers will perform next on Sunday, March 26 at the Eureka Christian Church.
